Nigerian Actress Rabi Ismail Sentenced To Death
The Nigerian Entertainment industry has been gripped by the case of Rabi Ismail, the actress who has reportedly been sentenced to death by the Court of Appeal for killing a male friend.
Justice of the Supreme Court Francis Tabai, who delivered the lead judgment, held that the actress was charged with culpable homicide of the deceased by drugging Ibrahim with a sweet, before drowning him in a dam in Kano in 2002. According to the prosecutor, the offence is contrary to section 221(b) of the Penal Code.
As reported by BBC News, Ismail who was not present in the court but represented by her lawyer, Mr. Taiwo Taiwo when the ruling was made is a very popular actress mostly known for Hausa role in the Kano filmed industry known as Kannywood (Hausa-language version of Nollywood).
Speaking with veteran Nollywood actor and President of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Segun Arinze with Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) in a telephone conversation, he said ‘what can one say, she has been found guilty. However i would have loved to see a committal to life, a life imprisonment sentence and not death“. “The deed has been done“, he said.
Speaking on whether Rabi Ismail reached out to the AGN, Arinze said ‘Don’t forget the case has been going on since 2002, but she did not at any point reach out to us‘.

Arnold Schwarzenegger saddles up for The Last Stand
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s return to Tinseltown was stalled earlier this year after the revelations of his private life, but the Governator appears to be ready for another bash at the big screen.
The ex-California governor is apparently going to “test his post-scandal popularity” by taking a role in a new Western entitled The Last Stand.
A Lionsgate executive says: “It’s an old-fashioned Western specifically designed for a 63-year-old broken-down guy with a moral decision whether Arnold decides to stand up for his town.
“We always needed an iconic figure for it.”
According to Deadline, Schwarzenegger will play a border sheriff who’s tasked with keeping an escaped drug dealer from crossing the border into Mexico.
Not counting Arnie’s cameo appearance in 2010’s The Expendables (and, frankly, who does?), Stand marks the Austrian oak’s first big movie project in seven years (after 2004’s Around The World In 80 Days).
With director Kim Ji-Woon having likened his film to a blend of Die Hard and High Noon, this sounds like a promisingly gung-ho return for Arnie. Thank God he’s back.
Arnold Schwarzenegger 'wants reunion with love child'
Arnold Schwarzenegger is reportedly considering meeting with his former mistress Mildred Baena and their 13-year-old love child. Schwarzenegger and Baena have apparently not seen one another since the former California governor revealed his infidelity in May, but sources have told TMZ that they spoke over the phone on the night of the actor's admission and have since stayed in frequent contact. The insider added that Schwarzenegger is anxious to see his teenage son in person at the earliest opportunity.
Beyonce's Dad Sues Live Nation Over False Theft Accusation
Last March when Beyonce Knowles fired her father Mathew as her manager, she didn't explain why she decided to end their professional relationship. Details of the separation were kept private until recently. In a legal document obtained by TMZ, it was explained that the R&B diva sacked his dad because she believed he had stolen from her.
Mathew accused Live Nation Management as the third party which brainwashed Beyonce into believing that he stole her money. Calling it a bad rap for him, the 60-year-old World Music founder who formerly managed two other ex-members of Destiny's Child, Michelle Williams (II) and Kelly Rowland, sued the company for defamation of character.
In the lawsuit, Mathew pointed out that Live Nation convinced Beyonce to have her law firm conduct an audit. His contract with his daughter was later terminated after it's concluded that he had indeed stolen her money, an accusation which he firmly denied.
After he was fired, Beyonce hired a manager who had worked as a former executive at Live Nation and maintained a relationship with the company. In his effort to prove he's innocent, he requested the judge to grant him the right to take depositions from various people at Live Nation, to determine how they orchestrated the false accusation.
